Ridgewood Community League is looking to expand our volunteer pool, and we want your help!
Whether you're looking to meet your neighbours, get volunteer experience, or just lend a hand, we would love to have you be a part of our volunteer pool. Through this group, we'll be able to better deliver our exciting upcoming events. What kind of things might you be doing? We're looking for volunteers for events, whether it's helping set up or take down, run concession, or even greet people at the door. Volunteer duties might also include community clean up, help at our casino, or other opportunities that may pop up. So how does it work? Head on over to our volunteer page and fill out the form. We'll send you an email back to say hello and pop you in our pool. When there is an event coming up, we will send an email out to the pool and take sign ups. There are no minimum hour requirements per year, and previous experience is not required. Ridgewood Community League is excited to announce our brand new program: Ridgewood Community Clubs! What is a Community Club? It's a small club organized by a league member, open to all league members, that centres around a common theme or interest. Want to host a photography club or ballroom dance group? How about a book club or board game night? Knitting nights, sewing circles, bridge clubs... whatever you're interested in we want to host it.
Community Clubs are a fantastic way to meet your neighbours who share similar interests and hobbies. If you're interested in getting in touch about a new community club, please head on over to this page to read about it, and send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you! The Ridgewood Community League Annual General Meeting is happening on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 at 6 pm.
All residents of Ridgewood are welcome to attend, and members of the league hold voting privileges. Come meet your board, ask questions, and let us know what you'd like to see your community league doing. There will also be some bylaw changes put forward that members will be invited to vote on. See you there! A volunteer weed pull needs your help! What are volunteer weed pulls? They are organized by the city of Edmonton to help control invasive, noxious weeds in our green spaces. Invasive species drive out native plants, and affect the whole ecosystem by taking away important space and food sources for plants, bugs, and animals.
If you'd like to participate, check out the city's website here where you can find more information and register for this event happening on June 15th at Minchau Park! Ridgewood Community League is excited to announce that we will be hosting our inaugural Christmas Market this year! The market will be taking place on November 16, 2024, and we are looking for artists and artisans of all kinds to vend at the event. Textiles, jewelry, home goods, paper goods, children's items, and everything else - if you make it, we'd love to have you at our event! Not only will we have a market, but we'll have a concession, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and other fun events to be announced. Artists and artisans from all over the city are welcome to apply - please head on over here to read our vendor guidelines, and submit your application. More information on the event can be found here. We'd love to have you kick off the holiday season with us this year!
