Ridgewood Community League service area

Ridgewood community is comprised of the neighborhoods of Bisset, Minchau and Weinlos. 

Ridgewood Community League was born at a meeting held on June 2nd, 1982. Half of the 95 residents in attendance agreed to volunteer in some capacity and so begun the League. Among its first priorities was the creation of recreational infrastructure of playgrounds and various children’s programs. Within a few short years, Ridgewood established playgrounds in each of its neighborhoods.

We are fortunate enough to have large green spaces, Graunke Park Star Blanket Park, and the Mill Creek Ravine in our community.  This allows for plenty of activities and nature walks without having to venture too far from our homes.

Meetings

Our board meets once per month, and all members of Ridgewood Community League are welcome to attend! Feel free to come down and meet the board, and learn how the governing body works for your league. 

Meetings happen every third Sunday of the month at 7 pm, excluding July and August. Please note during long weekends, this date may change; email the office for a current schedule if the meeting is scheduled during a long weekend.

Our AGM happens once a year in June. All residents of Ridgewood are welcome to attend, and members of the league hold voting privileges. 

Our Community Hall

Our hall was built in 1996 and currently offers a wide variety of wellness programs and space for social gatherings.  The patio addition was completed in August 2016 in which we can take advantage of the outdoors during the warmer months!

Ridgewood Community Hall went green in 2017. The old asphalt shingles were replaced to a green metal roof and the installation of state of the art solar system.  Ridgewood has also installed a high efficiency HVAC system and converting all light fixtures to LED.  These changes to the existing facility will significantly reduce the carbon imprint.

Ridgewood Community has played an important role in the development of the larger Mill Woods community.  We have seen many of our kids mature and become active members in our league.  We have also seen them realize that the Ridgewood is a safe and stable community to raise their own young families.  The demographics of the community are changing once again and new life is being breathed into the community once more as young families come to call Ridgewood home.
