Star Blanket Park is a 1.6 hectare table-land forest Natural Area in the Bisset neighbourhood. The park was created in 1980, and is a remnant of a coniferous-dominated mixed-wood forest.
Similar to a number of other such wooded areas in the city, this park in its present form, is a result of concerned community minded residents that negotiated with the city to preserve as much of the park as possible.
Among the old growth white spruce trees, there are a number of trees and shrubs as well as a variety of birds and wildlife. There have been some interesting sightings in the park including Falcons that nested in the park for a number of years.
The park contains a lighted shale walkway that connects 39 street to the pipeline right of way, and subequently connecting to 41 street.
The park is enjoyed by neighborhood residents, whether walking their dogs, or bird-watching.
